How to Hook Up a PS3 Controller Without the Charging Cord

Like all modern consoles, the Sony PlayStation 3 uses wireless controllers. Since these controllers work independently from their respective systems, they need to be hooked up. This is known as synchronization. If you have just purchased a PS3, synchronization is slightly simpler. Unfortunately, new controllers cannot be synchronized without their respective cables. The same rule applies if you lend your own controller to another PS3 owner. However, this is not the case with your system's original controller, which is preset to work with your specific PS3 console.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn on your PS3 system.

    • 2

Press the "PS" button in the center of your controller. This will trigger four flashing red lights on the front.

    • 3

Monitor the flashing lights. After three or four seconds, they should stop flashing and leave a single, solid light. This indicates that your controller is hooked up and ready.
