How to Fix Broken Tritton Headsets

Tritton makes gaming headsets for various consoles, such as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Like other audio headsets, Tritton connects to your game console via a cable. If you have been having problems with the audio on your Tritton headset, it is likely the result of damage to the plug on the headset wire. This may be due to constant removal of the plug by pulling on the cable just behind the plug. If you don't mind a trip to the electronics store, you can fix this problem yourself.

Things You'll Need

Wire cutters
New plug
Soldering iron and solder
Electrical tape

Instructions

  Locate the plug at the end of the cable attached to the Triton headset and use your wire cutters to cut the plug off.

  Strip about a 1/2 of an inch of covering off the wiring where you just cut the plug. This will expose the internal wiring.

  Cut the same amount of sheath off the small portion of wire that is attached to the new plug. You can purchase audio plugs from various electronics stores. Just be sure to note the size of the plug for your particular headset. A standard size is 2.55mm, but you can find your particular plug information in the manual for your Triton headset.

  Plug in your soldering iron and let it warm up. Dip the end of the soldering iron in your container of solder.

  Solder the exposed wires on the headset to the exposed wires on the plug. Wait for the solder to dry.

  Wrap the exposed wiring in electrical tape. You can now plug in your headset and the new plug should work fine.
