How to Upgrade Your R4 to Support Action Replay

The "R4DS" card can add a multitude of features and possibilities to your Nintendo DS, but if you have an outdated card, it will lack the functionality to use Action Replay codes. Action Replay codes are present in nearly every game for the Nintendo DS and add a plethora of cheats to your game for use, typically everything from changing your sprite to giving your character special powers. Luckily, there is an update available for "R4DS" users who want to double their device as an Action Replay device.

  Go to the R4DS website at www.r4ds.com and download the latest patch for "R4DS." Updates for the device are already for completely free from the product manufacturer's website. Once downloaded, the files will be in a compressed folder.

  Extract the files from the compressed folder with the file extraction program of your choice, such as WinRAR, WinZip, or ExtractNow. To do this, right-click the compressed folder, click "Extract..." and choose any directory on your computer.

  Connect your "R4DS" device to your computer via the USB cable that came with the device.

  Place the folder into the device. Depending on the size of the patch, it could take a few seconds to complete.

  Disconnect the card.

  Connect the card to your Nintendo DS and turn on the system. An installation screen will appear as the device automatically installs the patch onto the card. Once the update is complete, you will be able to use Action Replay codes with the device.
