How to Sync a Guitar Hero 5 PS3 Controller

Guitar Hero 5 for the PlayStation 3 lets you partially experience what it is like to play in a rock band without needing to spend countless hours practicing guitar. If you have purchased a wireless add-on guitar for your PlayStation 3, the guitar needs to be properly synchronized before the game system will recognize it. The syncing process only requires a few simple steps and you can re-sync the guitar in the future at any time if the controller loses its connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Assemble the guitar controller if necessary by sliding the guitar neck into the body until it snaps into place. Make sure the the grooves are properly aligned before sliding the neck into the body.

    • 2

Remove the battery cover from the back of the guitar by pressing the tab with your finger and lifting up. Insert the batteries into the battery compartment by aligning them to the proper positive and negative terminals. Replace the battery cover. The lights on the front of the guitar controller should now be flashing.

    • 3

Plug the receiver that came with the guitar into an open USB port on your PlayStation 3.

    • 4

Press the "Sync" button on the receiver to initiate the sync process.

    • 5

Press the "Sync" button on the guitar controller to complete the sync process. The sync button is usually a small button located near the neck, but the design varies between different models. The lights on the guitar and the receiver will stop flashing to indicate they are in sync.
