How to Stop Headphones From Echoing

Many modern gaming systems, such as the Xbox 360, are compatible with headset use. This allows you to communicate with other gamers from around the world (if your system is connected to the network) while playing. One common problem gamers experience while using headsets is a mild echo. This is usually caused by a poor connection and can be fixed quickly.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the headphones from the input jack on the front of the unit and then plug them back in, making sure they are secure. If this doesn't work, proceed to the next step.

    • 2

Unplug the headphone jack and clean the headphone plug with a soft microfiber cloth. Make sure all residue and dirt are removed from the plug.

    • 3

Use a can of compressed air or simply blow into the headphone jack to clear it of any dust.

    • 4

Plug the headphones back into the jack. The echo problem should now be fixed. If it isn't, the problem is likely due to damage to the internal wiring of the headset and it will need to be replaced.
