Different Controllers for Wii Guitar Hero

The "Guitar Hero" series of video games includes several accessories that mimic musical instruments. As the name of the game suggests, guitars (both bass and lead) are a critical component of game play. The game's developer, Activision, and several third-party developers have created guitars that are compatible with "Guitar Hero" games. They incorporate several real-life guitar features into the design to create a realistic guitar experience.
  1. Xtreme 2 Wireless Guitar Controller

    • Hyperkin manufactures the Xtreme 2 Wireless Guitar Controller. Created specifically for the Wii, the Xtreme 2 features a Wii remote port for wireless play. The controller is fully compatible with all of the "Guitar Hero" games and several of the "Rock Band" games. A built-in socket conveniently holds the Wii remote, which provides power to the guitar. The Xtreme 2 also includes a chrome whammy bar, bi-directional strum bar and five multicolored fret buttons.

    Guitar Hero 5 Standalone Guitar

    • Activision manufactures the Guitar Hero 5 Standalone Guitar that is compatible with all of its "Guitar Hero" games. Additionally, the guitar can be used in the "Band Hero," "DJ Hero" and "Rock Band" video games. The wireless controller includes a shoulder strap, hardware guide and two AA batteries. The guitar can be used to play both the bass and lead guitar in any of the "Guitar Hero" game modes. The design for the Guitar Hero 5 standalone guitar features chrome-detailed fret keys, a new faceplate and quiet buttons.

    Wii Les Paul Wireless Guitar

    • The Wii Les Paul Wireless Guitar is manufactured by Activision and is compatible with all "Guitar Hero" games. The official wireless guitar for "Guitar Hero III," the guitar is styled after the famous Les Paul guitar. Its detachable neck allows the guitar to be stored in a compact space when not in use. The guitar improves upon the guitar released for "Guitar Hero II," with a refined fret button design and a longer strum bar. In addition to a guitar strap, the guitar includes stickers to customize the guitar and other "Guitar Hero" accessories.

    Frontman Wireless Guitar

    • The Frontman Wireless Guitar was created by Nyko for "Guitar Hero III," but is compatible with the other games in the series. Like the other guitars, the Frontman connects to and holds the Wii Remote. The guitar has hard-rock styling, a choice of two color schemes and three interchangeable pick guards. Other features on the Frontman include a whammy bar, bi-directional strum bar, fret buttons and an analog stick.
