PS3 Eye Instructions

The PlayStation 3 home gaming console is capable of much more than just playing video games. In addition to also playing Blu-Ray discs, making it an all-purpose home entertainment console, the PlayStation 3 can be upgraded with a PlayStation 3 Eye to enable video chatting with friends or family that also have the console and Eye accessory. This captures video, allowing you to see your friends as you talk to them over the PlayStation 3 network.

Instructions

      Update your PlayStation 3 system data, if prompted. The most current software is required.

      Select an account or sign-up for the PlayStation Network with your current account.

      Plug the PlayStation Eye into the console's USB port.

      Select the "Friends" tab, represented by an icon with two smiling faces.

      Start a new chat by selecting the speech bubble icon.

      Select the headset icon to start a new video chat.

      Choose a friend by selecting the smiling face and plus sign icon, then highlighting the friend you wish to chat with.

      Enter a message, then press "Send."

    • 9

      Ensure you are in front of the eye and speak with your friend when they answer your chat invitation.
