Insert your Action Replay disc into the CD/DVD drive of your PS2 and plug the memory card or USB flash drive into any spare memory slot.
Turn on or reset your PS2 to start loading Action Replay. When the program's home page is displayed, use the PS2 controller's D-pad or left analog stick to highlight different menu options.
Remove the Action Replay disc and replace it with the game you wish to play. The program's auto disc recognition technology instantly displays the codes for each game in List or Effect Bar format on the Quick Mode screen.
Use "Up" and "Down" on your joypad to rotate the Quick Mode wheel and select the cheat code or codes you wish to use. By moving the Effect Bar left and right, you can increase or reduce the impact of that particular cheat on the overall game.
Connect your PS2 to the Internet via the network adapter if you wish to download the latest modifier codes from Codejunkies. Once they are downloaded, start Action Replay and select Expert Mode from the options menu.
Scroll through all the codes and use your joypad to select and enter the ones you wish to use. Your joypad also controls the virtual keypad onscreen where you must enter a new game's master code first, followed by additional codes for each cheat.
Enter the 13-character modifier codes by using the D-pad or left analog stick to navigate the virtual keyboard. Use the right analog stick to move the cursor through the code entry grid. Press "X" on your controller to type the highlighted character.
Use the virtual keyboard to enter the master code and individual codes of each cheat, then add the game's name and select "OK" to complete the code entry process. The code is now saved and available for use.
