Things You'll Need
Instructions
Grasp the edges of the drum head near the top with both hands. The bottom of each of the four drum heads is stationary but the top part that pushes in is removable.
Feel the rubber stoppers on the drum heads through the holes in the bottom of the drum set under the red and green pads. Push the stoppers from the bottom while pulling the drum head from the top to reduce the risk of breaking the pegs. Pull the drum head up with a slow but firm motion. Pull with even force distributed around the drum head. Pulling stronger on one side can crack the drum head. The blue and yellow drum heads have no holes on the bottom and are only removable by pulling from the top.
Remove the four screws on the plastic piece in the middle of the inside of the drum head using a small Phillips screwdriver. This piece holds the wires that run from the drum head to the set; disconnecting it allows you to work on the drum head without the risk of breaking the wires. The plastic piece also contains a piezoelectric sensor that controls the sensitivity of the drums.
Remove the six small screws that hold the plastic rim on the edge of the drum head with Phillips screwdriver, exposing the rubber skin on top of the drum head. Placing a disc of sheet metal between the rubber skin and the drum head itself can keep fixed cracks on the drum head from breaking again. Slowly peel the rubber skin from the drum head. Pulling too hard can stretch the skin and cause warping when you put it back on the drum head and reassemble the set.
