How to Make a USB Action Replay for the Xbox

Since normal Action Replay devices have been discontinued, they can be hard to find and expensive to buy. Instead of buying a typical Action Replay device you can make one out of an Xbox memory card and a standard USB cable. The whole process takes less than a half-hour and it is relatively easy to complete. Creating your own Action Replay device will save you money, and the materials will be much easier to obtain than a standard device is.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove every screw located on the back of the Xbox memory card. Put them all in a safe place. Cut your USB cable in half so that you have enough left over on each side for a project.

    • 2

Strip the exterior coating of the USB cable and then half an inch of coating off of each of the small colored wires. Solder the small wires to the terminals on the memory card making sure to match the colors.

    • 3

Shave some plastic off the back of your Xbox card to leave room for the USB cord that you have added. Put the back of the card back in place and tighten all the screws in place.

    • 4

Download the software for Action Replay (see Resources). Instruct the installer to install your software on your Desktop. Double click the Action Replay icon on your desktop and start the installer. Install the program and start it up.

    • 5

Plug the USB part of your device in to your computer and wait for the card to appear in the Action Replay window. Use like you would the normal Action Replay device.
