How to Repair a Memory Card

Memory cards are used on different gaming consoles and digital cameras. If you are having problems with your memory card, you probably have corrupted data on the card. Turning off the system or camera while it is trying to save information to the card can corrupt the data. This corrupted data can only be taken off by formatting the memory card.

      Check the side of the SD memory card to make sure that it is not in write protection mode. This can be fixed by pushing the small switch on the side of the card.

      Spray compressed air into memory card slot on your gaming console to clear any dust that may be inside the connection.

      Put your memory card into your computer through a card reader. Click the "Start" button and then go to the "Computer" option in the menu.

      Right click on your memory card and then click the "Format" option from the menu.

      Wait for the screen to display a box telling you that the card has been formatted. Insert the card into your camera or gaming console to use it again.
