How to Get Memory Card Working on XBox Action Replay

Issues with your Xbox memory card are likely the result of corrupted save files. One way to test the memory card is to remove the save files. By using your memory card with the Action Replay interface for your computer, you can drag the save files from your memory card to back up on your computer. While the memory card may have more extensive memory damage than just corrupted save files, removing the save files can help you judge which files aren't working and transfer them to a new memory card.

Things You'll Need

Action Replay USB connection
Action Replay software
Xbox memory card

  Install the Action Replay software. Make sure that the software you download is for the Xbox, and that you have the most recent version of the software. (See Resources.)

  Insert the Action Replay USB dongle into your computer. Once the Action Replay dongle is plugged in, insert the Xbox memory card into the dongle.

  Open the Action Replay program on your computer. There are three panels in the Action Replay program: the one on the left representing your Xbox memory card, the middle one indicating the save files on your PC and the one of the right for the Code Junkies online database.

  Drag the save files from your memory card using the left panel, to the center panel to save them on your computer. The transferred save files will be saved to your computer at "C:\Program Files\Datel\ActionReplayXbox\Saves."

  Eject the memory card once all the transfers are complete; pulling the card out before the file transfer is completed can cause corruption and irreparable file damage.

  Insert the memory card into your Xbox controller to access it using the Xbox interface. If you're using an Action Replay card, you can insert into the second memory card slot to transfer files between the memory card and the Action Replay.
