How to Use the Transfer Cable for an Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 hard drive stores all the profile and saved game data accumulated since you began using it. If you purchase a new Xbox 360, you can transfer all of your saved data from the old hard drive to the new hard drive with the transfer cable. This process prevents you from having to start all over again each time you buy a new console.

Instructions

  1. Remove the Hard Drive From Old Console

    • 1

      Turn off the Xbox 360.

    • 2

Turn the Xbox 360 so that the hard drive is facing you.

    • 3

Press the hard drive release button and pull the hard drive off the console.

Transfer the Content to Another Console

    • 4

Connect the transfer cable to the old hard drive by connecting the adapter on the transfer cable to the port located on the bottom of the hard drive.

    • 5

Connect the other end of the transfer cable to the USB port on the back of the console.

    • 6

Turn on the new Xbox 360. The dashboard automatically recognizes the transfer cable connection and displays a "Transfer Content" dialog box.

    • 7

Select "Transfer to Console" and press the "A" button. This loads a dialog displaying all the content stored on the old drive.

    • 8

Select "Start" and then press the "A" button.
