How to Delete X45 Saitek Calibration

The Saitek x45 is an older joystick set designed for use with flight simulators or other types of "flight" games. It is actually comprised of two joysticks, one in the usual "flightstick" design and the second in a "throttle" design, each containing several programmable buttons. While the X45 is a self-calibrating joystick unit, it will occasionally become unstable and unusable thanks to bugs or glitches in the system. When this happens, the only way to remove the current calibration is to go into the Windows registry and physically delete the calibration files so that it can freely re-calibrate itself.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Saitek x45 from your computer.

    • 2

Click the "Start" menu on the Windows task bar and open the "Run" menu.

    • 3

Type "Regedit" into the "Run" box when it appears, then press "Enter." This will launch the Windows Registry Editor.

    • 4

Browse to the following registry key:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\DirectInput

    • 5

Select and delete the "VID_06A3&PID_053C" and/or "VID_06A3&PID_2541" folder(s). These folders contain the calibration data for your Saitek X45. Removing them will delete the calibration configuration for your joystick.
