How to Connect Wireless Controllers

The advent of wireless controllers has eliminated the tangled cords and limited range of players in console generations past. Systems such as the Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 all now feature wireless controls. Before you can use a wireless controller you must complete a process to synchronize the accessory with the gaming console. This process differs with each company's system.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the console and the controller if you are connecting a wireless controller on the Xbox 360 or Wii. Just turn on the PlayStation 3 console's power if connecting a controller for that system.

    • 2

Press the synchronization button on the controller. On the Xbox 360, this is found near the charging port. The Wii's sync button is located in the battery compartment.

    • 3

Press the synchronization button on the console -- near the memory unit slots on the front of the Xbox 360 and inside the SD card slot on the Wii.

    • 4

Watch the lights on the controller flash and then settle on a controller position, from one to four on both the Xbox 360 and Wii controllers.

    • 5

Connect the PlayStation 3 controller to the console by using a USB cable that Sony includes with the packaging. The cable inserts into the top of the controller and the synchronization automatically occurs once you connect it.
