SideWinder game devices were designed by Microsoft for PCs as well as Apple's Mac OS X and any Unix-like operating system. Microsoft discontinued the SideWinder product line in 2003, citing poor sales, and decided to focus on the Xbox distribution. In 2007, Microsoft restarted its SideWinder line, which consists of joysticks, gamepads and steering wheels. They come in versions such as a game port, plug-and-play and USB. Installing SideWinder so that you can use the peripherals requires a few steps to set up.
