How to Invert a Gamepad Stick

When in a game where the control stick on your gamepad controls the camera and where you look, or your direction you travel, it often comes to personal preference on how you control the Y-axis. Some people like to push the stick down to look up, where as others prefer for the view to pan down. Some games will have the menu option to invert the gamepad stick in control of the Y-axis to match your personal preference.

     Pause the game and go to the "Options" or "Settings" menu. This menu can usually be accessed from the game's main menu as well.

     Scroll through the options to find "Controls," "Gamepad" or a variation that refers to the control settings, and select it.

     Find and select the option within this menu to invert the Y-axis. This is usually a checkbox with "Invert Y-axis," "Invert Look", or "Invert Controls" written next to it.
