How to Disassemble a Rock Band Guitar

The ̶0;Rockband̶1; series of videogames entertain thousands of would-be rockers in the comfort of their own homes. Thanks to the game̵7;s guitar-shaped controller, players can rock away by pressing a series of buttons. There are times when players may want to modify the controllers to suit their tastes, meaning they̵7;ll want to open the controllers. Doing so is a relatively simple do-it-yourself project, but be advised that opening the controller may void any current manufacturer̵7;s warranty.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your console prior to beginning work on your controller. Spread a small towel out on a flat and stable surface like a table and lay the controller face down on the towel. For safety̵7;s sake, flip open the battery compartment and remove the batteries.

    • 2

Insert the Phillips head screwdriver into the one of the indented screw holes on the headstock; unscrew the screw and place it in a small cup to avoid accidentally losing it. Continue unscrewing each of the remaining 13 screws until all have been removed.

    • 3

Pinch the plastic top and bottom of the controller and apply a slight amount of pressure; pull upward to remove the two pieces from one another. Alternatively, should the pieces seem to stick, pull up on the top enough to slide a flathead screwdriver in between the pieces and use the driver to pry the pieces apart.
