How to Use a Logitech Controller

Logitech makes dozens of different types of game controllers for video game consoles and home computers. Their devices are plug-and-play, meaning you don't have to spend much time installing and configuring software. Installing and using their game controllers for home computers and video game consoles are two different processes. Some software installation is necessary on computers; on consoles, it's just plug and play.

Instructions

  1. Home Computer Setup

    • 1

Insert the Installation CD that came with the Logitech controller into your computer. The Setup program launches automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to continue the installation.

    • 2

Plug the controller's USB connector into a USB slot on your computer when instructed. For wireless controllers, insert the wireless receiver dongle's USB connector into a USB slot.

    • 3

Plug the controller's power supply into a power outlet, if it has a power supply. Most force feedback joysticks have an external power supply, but it is rare for other types of controllers.

    • 4

Remove the controller's battery cover from the underside of the controller, insert the required type and number of batteries, then replace the battery cover, if it is a wireless controller. Press any button on the controller to reconnect it to your computer.

    • 5

Launch a game you want to use the controller with.

    • 6

Open the "Options" menu. In most games, the "Options" menu can be opened from the first screen.

    • 7

Go to the "Controls" or "Input" section. Check the box beside "Use joystick" or "Use gamepad," depending on what type of controller you installed. You can now use the Logitech controller to play the video game.

    Game Console Setup

    • 8

Remove the battery cover from the underside of the controller and insert the type and number of batteries required. Replace the battery cover.

    • 9

Insert the controller's USB adapter or receiver into a USB slot on your game console.

    • 10

      Turn on the game console.

    • 11

Press the "Logitech" button in the middle of the controller face to link the controller to the USB adapter. Press the "Connect" button on the adapter that came with the controller and wait for the lights to turn green. Your game controller is now ready to use.
