How to Sync the PS3 BD Remote Control

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) has many perks that come bundled with the video game system, including Bluetooth wireless technology. Each PS3 controller uses Bluetooth to wirelessly connect to the system, eliminating the need for the wired controllers of previous-generation consoles. Bluetooth allows for the use of many advanced PS3 accessories, including microphones and remotes for movie watching. Synchronizing the PS3 Remote Control is conveniently quick, leaving you plenty of time to watch your movies.

Insert the two AA batteries into the back of the Blu-Ray Disc (BD) Remote Control. If the remote does not have a power source, the PS3 will be unable to detect its Bluetooth presence.

Update your PS3 firmware. Version 1.30 is mandatory for using the BD Remote Control, so if you have an older (or un-updated) system, you may need to download the newest firmware. To do this, go to your system's settings in the Cross Media Bar (XMB) and select "System Update."

Select "Settings" in the XMB, then scroll down to Accessory Settings. Select "Register BD Remote Control" to begin the synchronization process. Follow the on-screen instructions to fully sync the BD Remote Control.
