How to Format a SD Card for R4

Before you use the R4, you must format a microSD card. When you format an SD card, it wipes any existing information from it and prepares it for use for new information storing. If you do not format the microSD card before attempting to use the R4, it will result in errors and you will not be able to access the card. Formatting the card for use with the R4 is a straightforward process that will only take a few moments.

Things You'll Need

MicroSD card
MicroSD/SD card adapter
USB SD card reader or computer media card port

Instructions

  Insert the microSD card into the slot in the SD card adapter.

  Insert the SD card adapter into the SD card reader attached to your computer or into your computer's media port.

  Open "My Computer."

  Open the SD card "removable disk" drive and copy any files you want to keep to your computer. Formatting the card will erase all of the information.

  Right-click on the SD card drive.

  Select "Format."

  Select "FAT32" format for the card. This should be set by default.

  Click "Start" to reformat the card.
