How to Hook an XBox 360 Remote to a Computer

The Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote is unique among video game accessories due to the fact that it allows you to control not only your Xbox 360, but any computer that your Xbox 360 is connected to as well. In order to do this, your computer must first be connected to your computer by way of the Windows Media Player. Once you do this, connecting the Xbox remote to your computer is a simple task.

Windows Media Player 11
PC and Xbox 360 connected to Internet router

Instructions

  Turn on your Windows Media Player 11 application on your PC. Select the "Library" tab in the applications menu bar located at the top of the window.

  Select the "Media Sharing" option in the library menu, then select the "Media Sharing" tab.

  Check the "Share My Media" check box, then select the "Xbox 360" icon from the list that appears.

  Select the "Allow" button, then select "OK"to connect your Xbox 360 to your PC.

  Press the "Windows Media Center" button on your Xbox 360 remote to begin controlling your computer remotely through your Xbox 360.
