How to Use a Rock Band Mic on a Computer

Like many video game controllers today, the "Rock Band" series microphones connect via USB to the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and PlayStation 2 and 3 consoles. This USB connection makes the microphone cross-compatible with a number of different digital devices. Using the "Rock Band" mic on your computer is as simple as plugging it into a USB port.

Instructions

  Turn on your computer and wait for it to load.

  Plug the USB end of your "Rock Band" microphone into an available USB port on your computer.

  Wait as Windows detects the device. It will register the mic as "Logitech USB Microphone" and download any necessary drivers. A small notification will appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen, alerting you of the progress.

  Exit the notification when it tells you the process is complete and your device is ready to use.

  Open your preferred sound recording program to test the microphone.
