How to Modify an XBox Controller

In most online first-person shooters (FPS), players tend to gravitate toward the semi- or fully automatic weapons. To fire a deadly hail of bullets, players only need to hold down the right trigger on the Xbox controller. Regrettably, single-fire weapons are oftentimes much more powerful, but each deadly bullet requires an individual trigger squeeze. Using a few household objects, you can modify your Xbox controller to fire bullets faster than you ever thought possible.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Xbox and boot up an FPS. Enter a private match so that you can attach and calibrate your controller modification without getting shot up by online players.

    • 2

Hold the paper clip along the length of the right trigger. A small portion of the trigger will hang below the trigger end.

    • 3

Slightly compress the trigger so that it is just on the edge of firing your weapon, using the on-screen action as a guide.

    • 4

Apply a small strip of duct tape across the paper clip and trigger, following the contours of your controller. Ideally, you should only need to barely press the trigger to fire your weapon. Adjust the tape as necessary.

    • 5

Rest your middle and pointer fingertips on both paper clip ends. By rapidly pressing each fingertip down in an alternating fashion, you will fire single-shot weapons twice as fast as usual.

Practice aiming and maneuvering around the game levels with the new setup. It might take some time to get used to the new hand position. Once you are comfortable, take your modified controller online for some single-fire domination.
