How to Install Cyclods Evolution Firmware

CycloDS Evolution is a media cartridge for Nintendo DS that allows users to download, browse and run MP3 audio, full-motion video and "home-brew" (amateur-designed) applications and games on Nintendo DS. The device uses a MicroSD card to interface between PC or Mac computers and the Nintendo DS. This MicroSD card is also used for uploading and flashing the card with the latest firmware, or operating software. It is important to keep the CycloDS firmware updated as this ensures compatibility with the Nintendo's upgrades to the system, as well as being able to run the latest fan-made software.

Computer with Internet access
MicroSD card reader (included with CycloDS Evolution)
Nintendo DS

Instructions

  Download the latest version of the CycloDS firmware (see Resources). Double-click the downloaded file to unzip.

  Connect your CycloDS Evolution's MicroSD card to your PC using the device's MicroSD card reader. Open the card's root directory in "My Computer" or "Finder." It will show up as "No Name" or "CycloDS."

  Copy the file "update.evo" to the root directory of your MicroSD card, then eject and remove the card.

  Place your MicroSD card in the MicroSD slot of the CycloDS Evolution cartridge. Insert the CycloDS evolution cartridge into your Nintendo DS and turn the system on.

  Select "CycloDS Evolution" from the main menu of your Nintendo DS. Click "OK" to update the firmware on your card. Do not turn off the DS, remove the MicroSD card or eject the CycloDS Evolution cartridge until the progress bar has disappeared and the card's main menu is displayed.
