How to Troubleshoot a DS Lite Action Replay

The Action Replay DS cheat cartridges allow users to download cheat codes from the Internet and use these codes to modify the content and difficulty level of Nintendo DS and DS Lite video games. The cartridges are loaded with codes through connection to a Windows PC, then transfer these codes to the Nintendo DS by plugging into the cartridge slot. Because of this arrangement, there are a few aspects that may need troubleshooting.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your Action Replay DS connection to the game and Nintendo DS. Many problems are simply caused by a loose connection. Unplug the cartridge and re-insert firmly.

    • 2

Re-install the Action Replay Code Manager software for your PC. Open the "Start Menu" and select "Classic View," then choose "Add/Remove Programs" or "Uninstall a Program." Double-click "Action Replay Code Manager Software" and click "OK." Wait for the program to uninstall then insert the Action Replay DS install CD. Follow the onscreen steps to re-install the Code Manager Software.

Update the data on your Action Replay DS cartridge. Open the Action Replay Code Manager Software and click the pink "Software Upgrade" icon to download the latest codes. Click again to download the latest firmware. Connect your Action Replay DS to your computer via USB and insert the cartridge into your Nintendo DS. Turn on the console while holding the "A," B," Start" and "Select" buttons, then tap the green "Mouse" icon with your stylus. Click "Software Upgrade" once more on your PC to transfer the latest codes and firmware to your Action Replay DS.

If you are using the Media Edition or Media Edition Max versions of the cartridge, try changing the MicroSD card used to store data. Some MicroSD cards (particularly SDHC models) are not supported by the cartridge. Insert a different MicroSD card into the cartridge and try the cartridge again.

Try a different game with your Action Replay DS. If you have performed all the above steps and the cartridge refuses to operate with certain games, they may not have been added to the database yet. To test this, insert a different game and try the device again. If your Action Replay DS refuses to work only with certain games, contact Code Junkies, the cartridge's distributor, so the game can be added to the database.
