Things You'll Need
Instructions
Handmade
Create your design on a sheet of paper. Allow space for the strum and whammy bar as well as any buttons that are unique to your version of the guitar.
Note on your designs the colors you wish to use and positioning on the guitar. Your skin does not need to cover the entire body or head stock of the guitar.
Place a sheet of sticker paper onto the body of your guitar. Sketch an outline of the guitar on the paper to guide you in transferring your design.
Draw your design onto the sticker paper with pencil. Make any changes to the design before coloring it.
Add color to your design using markers or paint pens. Avoid using colored pencils as they will not stand out on the sticker paper.
Cut out your design. Place the design on your guitar to once again check the sizing. Trim the edges as needed.
Remove the sticker paper from its backing and place it onto your guitar. Smooth the skin from one edge to the other to prevent bubbles from forming.
Online
Visit a website that features blank "Guitar Hero" skins to customize. These websites include Unique Skins and My Tego.
Select "Create Custom Skin" from the home page. Choose the "Guitar Hero" guitar that you own. Not all skins will fit all guitars.
Click "Upload Images" to add images from your computer onto the skin. Drag the image around and re-size it to fit the size and shape of the guitar body.
Add colors and text from the tool bar on the skin website. Tweak your final design as you see fit.
Purchase your skin. The website will ship your finished product to you. Peel the skin from its backing and place it onto your guitar.
