How to Troubleshoot Caanoo

The Caanoo is a fairly inexpensive handheld gaming device that uses open-source applications. While some users have experienced problems with hardware or other components of the device, most are related to the device's firmware and the need for users to upgrade their devices to new versions. The best practice for troubleshooting the Caanoo is to update the firmware and ensure that you have enough storage space for all the games you want to run.

Instructions

    • 1

Charge your Caanoo fully using the supplied power cable.

    • 2

Obtain a new SD card with ample space for the number of games that you plan to play on the Caanoo. If you have an SD card in the device that is running out of space, it may cause the device to hang or work very slowly; thus, inserting a new SD card may help with speed or boot problems.

    • 3

Navigate to the Caanoo Firmware page and click the latest version to download it.

    • 4

Insert your new SD card into the SD slot of your computer.

    • 5

Click the compressed file to decompress it, and then copy and paste the file into the Roots folder of your SD card. Then safely remove the SD card from your computer.

    • 6

Place the SD card into the SD slot of your Caanoo and turn on the device. While it's booting, hold down the "R" button. Let go of the button when the Firmware Upgrading dialogue appears. Wait for a few minutes until you see the Firmware Upgrade Complete message. In many cases, updating this firmware will solve most issues that you're having.
