How to Change My PS3 From Retail Mode

The Playstation 3 has such a diverse array of system settings, it may become necessary to restore the original factory settings of the console back to their defaults. This method will change the PS3 system software from any altered mode back to exactly how the PS3 was configured directly out of the box.

Instructions

      Go the PS3 XMB main menu, then scroll over to "Settings."

      Scroll down to "System Settings," then choose "Restore Default Settings" and press "X."

    • 3

      Scroll through the menu of system settings to be reverted to their defaults, them press "X." The PS3 will now restart.

    • 4

      Follow the on-screen instructions to go through the PS3's initial set up. Default settings are now restored.
