Things You'll Need
Instructions
Connect the XCM multi-console component cable to your television's component input with the color coded plugs. You can then simultaneously connect the compatible ends of the other side of the cable to your PlayStation 3 and Wii consoles. Although the cable cannot send a video signal from both consoles at the same time, you can alternate between the each of the labeled outputs with the switch adjacent to the console end of the cable.
Connect your consoles with the cables compatible with the individual outputs for high-definition visuals. The Wii does not provide an option for "true" HD, but you can still utilize a component cable for a 480 pixel resolution display. The PS3 can utilize an HDMI cable for a display up to a 1080 pixel resolution. Because the consoles require two different inputs, it should not be a problem to hook up both at the same time, although you will need to switch between them with your remote control.
Connect your consoles to a standard-definition television, as long as the TV supports at least two RCA input sets. RCA cables are the standard video setup packaged with the PS3 and Wii, and these color-coded sets of yellow, white and red plugs are found on many TV sets. High-definition cables are sold separately, so if you have a standard-definition television with multiple inputs, these standard cables can be ideal for your setup.
