How to Assign an MAC Address to Your Xbox

A Media Access Control address is a series of numbers and numerals used to identify a device on a network. A router uses the MAC address to avoid conflicts with multiple devices connecting to the Internet. The Xbox and the Xbox 360 are assigned MAC addresses automatically, which can be viewed in the network settings. The original Xbox's MAC address cannot be changed, but the 360 allows alternate MAC addresses to be assigned.
