How to Take the Cover off a PS3

Whether you need to fix your Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) video gaming console or just want to see what it's made of, removing the cover is a multistep process. To uncover the DVD drive and the guts of the console, you must remove a series of hidden screws.

Things You'll Need

Philips screwdriver
Small flat head screwdriver

Instructions

  Unplug the PS3 console from all power sources.

  Remove the rubber foot on the left side of the console with a small flat head screwdriver.

  Underneath the rubber foot you will find a Torx security screw. Remove screw with the small flat head screwdriver.

  Slide the cover to the left about two inches and lift the top off.

  Underneath this top is another top that is secured with seven screws. Remove these screws with a Philips screwdriver.

  Push in the plastic clip, which can be found at the back of the console.
- 7
  Lift the second top off the console.
