How to Install an SNES

Though the graphics engine on most cell phones surpasses that of Nintendo's 16-bit SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) console, the SNES library is filled with timeless games. In spite of the fact that the SNES was released in the early 90s, its support for composite video makes it compatible with most televisions on the market today. Installing the SNES is a cinch--it requires about the same amount of effort as setting up a standard DVD player.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the wide end of the SNES' audio/video cable into the "Multi Out" port on the back of the console. Plug the cable's red, white and yellow connectors into the matching "Audio/Video In" ports on your television.

    • 2

Plug the barrel connector end of the SNES' power adapter into the "AC Adapter" port on the back of the console. Plug the transformer end of the power adapter into a power outlet.

    • 3

Plug each of your gamepads into the two controller ports on the front of the console. Orient each controller's connectors so that their flat sides face inward, then plug them into the controller ports.

    • 4

Insert a cartridge into the slot at the top of the SNES. Orient the cartridge so that its label faces forward.

    • 5

Power on your television. Press the "Source" button on your remote control to select your television's "Composite Video" input--press the "A/V" button on older televisions.

    • 6

Slide the "Power" button towards the cartridge to start your game.
