What Kinds of Batteries Does the Leapster Explorer Take?

The Leapster Explorer is a handheld gaming system for kids ages 5 to 9. Your kids can play games, read e-books, watch videos and download applications with the Leapster Explorer. You will need to purchase 4 AA batteries for the system and connect it to a computer to use all of the features.
  1. Getting Started

    • Turn your Leapster Explorer over to the back. Remove the panel and insert 4 AA batteries, then put the panel back on. Turn it on to set your time and date, and to create player names for each of your kids, then turn it off.

    Install the Software

    • Make sure you are connected to the Internet and install the Leapfrog Connect application by inserting the disc into your computer's CD-ROM drive. Follow the instructions appearing on the screen.

    Connect the Handheld to the Computer

    • Your system came with a USB cord. Use it to connect your Leapster handheld to your computer and turn it on. Open the Leapfrog Connect application and choose a player. .

    Play!

    • Click on the Leaplet Store tab to choose your child's preferred application. Once you have chosen, enter the code on the back of the Leaplet card that is included with your system to download the application. Your system is now ready to use.
