How to Install an N64 Expansion Pak

The Expansion Pak for the Nintendo 64 doubles the memory for the system to 8 MB. This allows some games to run better and also improves the graphics the console can generate. The Expansion Pak replaces the Jumper Pak that was originally supplied with the console. The only equipment you need to complete the installation process is the Jumper Pak Ejector, a plastic tool that is supplied with the Expansion Pak.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the console off and unplug it from the power outlet.

    • 2

Remove the memory expansion slot cover on top of the console. Peel off the red sticker underneath.

    • 3

Insert the Jumper Pak Ejector into the back of the Jumper Pak in the memory expansion slot. Press down on the back of the Jumper Pak Ejector to eject the Jumper Pak.

    • 4

Insert the Expansion Pak into the memory expansion slot. Ensure the text on the Expansion Pak faces the front of the console. Push down on the top of the Expansion Pak to ensure it is connected.

    • 5

Replace the memory expansion slot cover and plug the console back into a power outlet.
