How to Repair a Super Nintendo NES

With all the sophisticated gaming consoles on the market today, it can still be fun to revisit an older console for a little dose of nostalgia. And if you happen to own a Super Nintendo console, you get some vintage hits, such as "Super Mario Bros." But since these consoles are old, they may develop hardware problems. Learn to troubleshoot and fix the SNES yourself.

      Examine your AC power cord at the back of the console for damage. Also look for the "Nintendo" label on it, as this means it's an official Nintendo power cable. Only use an official cable.

      Unplug the power cable from its port at the back of the console as well as from the wall outlet it's connected to. Plug the power cord back in tightly.

      Plug your color-coded AV cables into the console and TV appropriately. Match the colors on the cables to the colors on the jacks.

      Open the cartridge loading tray on the front of the console and spray compressed air in short, controlled bursts into the cartridge tray. This will clean the contacts in the system and allow for game cartridges to work properly.
