How to Make a Map for Battlefront 2

"Star Wars Battlefront II" is an action/shooter that takes place during the Galactic Civil War era and Clone Wars time line in the Star Wars universe. "Battlefront II" is the sequel to "Battlefront" and was released on the PS2, XBOX, PSP, and PC. In "Battlefront II," players have the option of creating their own maps to have battles on.

      Select "Start\All Programs\Lucasarts\Star Wars Battlefront II" to load the game. Then, open the Mod Tools and click on "Star Wars Battlefront Mod Tools." A new screen will come up.

      Click "Create World." A pop-up window will come up. Click "OK." Another screen will come up.

      In the upper left corner of the editor is a "Load" tab. Click the "Load" tab. A new screen with a bunch of file folders will come up.

      Click on the file folder "data_MAP." Click on the file folder "Worlds," then go to "Map," then open up the "World 1" folder. A file called "Map" will appear. Open it. A new screen will come up with some boxes to click.

      Click on the "Conquest" box. Then, click on the "Common" and "Conquest" boxes, and at the bottom click on "Build Accurate Object Collision." Then, click "OK." Finally, the editor screen comes up.

      Move around a little bit to get a feel for what the map layout looks like. The initial map is the Yavin map. According Star Wars Battlefront Files, beginner mappers should avoid creating a Yavin map because it is basic and Yavin maps have been done to death. Creating a Yavin map is the sign of an amateur, especially if you plan on releasing your map for others to use online.

      Click texture to change the look and feel of your map. A box with the numbers 0-15 will come up with four colors on top. Click on "0" to begin the process of modifying your map.

      Go back to the "BF2_Mod Tools" directory that you started from. Keep the "Editor" tab open. Go to the "Worlds" folder again and open the folder of the world you want to use for a map. Then, click on the map you want from that world. Go back to the editor and delete the text from "Detail" and the colored boxes.

      Save by going to the top left, next to the "Load" button. Save frequently to ensure that your creating is not lost.

      Click on the tabs in the edit mode panel to adjust height, add objects, foliage and command posts.

      Play around with your map controls, modifying the color, texture, sky and various objects until you are pleased with the way your map appears. Remember, creating a good map can take several hours.
