How to Transfer ROMs to a Softmodded Xbox

A softmodded Xbox can do many things such as save and play Xbox games from the hard drive and run homebrew applications such as media players and other system utilities. A softmodded Xbox can also play emulators; you can connect your Xbox to your PC using a CAT5 Ethernet cable and transfer emulator ROMs to your Xbox to play in a short amount of time.

      Connect a CAT5 Ethernet cable from an available CAT5 Ethernet port on the back of your computer to the back of the Xbox.

      Turn on your softmodded Xbox and go to the modified dashboard if your Xbox is not set up to launch to the dashboard automatically. Press "A" on the "Settings" button in the dashboard and make note of the Xbox IP address which is usually located in the top left corner of the screen.

      Download an FTP program online and double-click on the program setup file to install the program. Click "Next" when prompted and choose a directory to install the program to by browsing and clicking on the directory. Click "OK" to select the directory. Open the FTP program by double-clicking on the program icon.

      Go to "File" and "Connect." Enter your Xbox IP address into the "IP Address" box. Enter "21" as the port, and by default the user name and password are "xbox." Click the "Connect" button to connect to your Xbox. The Xbox drive will be on the right side of the program and the computer drive will be on the left side of the program.

      Extract your game ROM to your computer by choosing a directory to extract to and clicking "OK." Create a folder named "ROMS" on your computer and place any Xbox game ROMs you have into the folder. Drag the "ROMS" folder by clicking on it once to hold it and drop it into the Xbox E:/ drive.
