How to Use a Wii Nunchuk as a Mouse

The Wii system comes with the universally recognizable upright gaming console, as well as a main controller that comes attached to a secondary controller, known as the nunchuk. What most people don't know is that you can wire the nunchuk to act as a mouse for your PC by simply connecting it to a PIC18F2550 microcontroller. This only takes minutes to set up and should not cause any damage to the controller or your PC.

Instructions

    • 1

Boot your PC, and then connect the nunchuk. To do this, insert the nunchuk's plug to the PIC18F2550 microcontroller's input port. Next, plug in one end of a USB cable into the microcontroller's output port, and slide the other end of the cable into any of the USB ports on your computer. The microcontroller bridges communications between the controller and the PC.

Wait for your PC to indicate that it recognizes the nunchuk, alerting you that it's ready to be used as a mouse.

Adjust the cursor speed by turning the PIC18F2550 microcontroller's cursor speed knob. Keep in mind that the "Z" button on the nunchuk corresponds to a left-click on a mouse, while the "C" button acts as a right-click.
