How to Use an Original Atari With a Wii

The Nintendo Wii and the Atari 2600 were released almost thirty years apart and thus, possess wildly different technology. Connecting both consoles to your television requires some extra equipment for your Atari 2600. Once the consoles are connected, you can run both consoles at the same time, switching between them as you see fit.

  • Atari 2600 RF Adapter
  • Television (with RCA ports)

Instructions

      Connect the Wii end of your Wii RCA cables to the port on the back of your Wii.

      Connect the RCA end of these cables to the RCA ports on the back of your television.(They should be color-coded yellow, white and red.)

      Connect the VHF antenna end of the Atari 2600's antenna cable to the proper ports on your Atari RF Adapter.

      Connect the coaxial cable coming from the RF adapter to the coaxial port on the back of your television. Make sure the switch on the adapter is on the "Game" setting.

      Turn your television, Wii, and Atari 2600 on. To play your Wii, switch the TV to its RCA input channel. To play your Atari 2600, change the TV to channel 3.
