How to Transfer Xbox Apps to the Xbox

With a few simple modifications, you can connect the original Xbox video game console to a computer for easy transfer of games, files and apps. The Xbox needs to have a "mod" chip and a custom dashboard to make use of a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program for data transfer. Once configured, the Xbox treats the file like any other computer or server, allowing you to drag the apps from the computer hard drive into any folder you wish to use on the console.

Things You'll Need

"Modded" Xbox console
Evolution X or Unleash X
Ethernet cable
Wireless router (optional)
FTP client software

  Turn on the "modded" Xbox console and wait for Evolution X or Unleash X to load.

  Scroll down to "System," "Settings," then choose "IP" or "Network" depending on whether you are using Evolution X or Unleash X.

  Write down the Xbox's "IP Address," which is a series of numbers usually beginning with "192."

  Verify that the "Username" and "Password" are both "xbox" and the "Port" in use is "21." The "IP Type" must be "Static."

  Press "B" to exit the configuration screen and save the settings if prompted to do so.

  Download and install an FTP client program, such as FileZilla FTP or Flash FXP.

  Launch the FTP program from the desktop shortcut or "Start" menu.

  Add a new "Site" or "Quick Connect" from the "File" menu and enter the Xbox information obtained previously. Click "Connect" to open the connection between the computer and the Xbox.

  Right-Click in the pane that shows the folders on the Xbox hard drive and choose "New Folder." In most cases this is the right pane.

  Name the folder "Apps."

  Drag the desired apps from your hard drive into the "Apps" folder on the Xbox to begin the file transfer.

  Restart your Xbox and navigate to the "Apps" selection on the main menu of your Xbox dashboard to browse the available apps.
