Things You'll Need
Instructions
Back up your XBox's critical settings by booting the machine into the EvolutionX dashboard, then selecting the "Back Up" option under the "SystemUtils" link.
Back up the C: and E: drives of your XBox to your personal computer using file transfer protocol. This can usually be done if your XBox is connected to the same network as your personal computer or by hard-wiring your XBox to your personal computer with a USB cable.
Create a new EvolutionX boot CD. Depending on the size of your new hard drive, you will have to edit settings in the evox.ini file. Your new boot CD will require the following files: default.xbe, evox.ini, /backup/bios.bin, /backup/disk.bin, /backup/eeprom.bin, /backup/hddinfo.txt and /backup/hddkey.bin.
Detach the four spongy foot pads and two warranty stickers on the bottom of the XBox and unscrew the six anchor screws on the XBox's case.
Remove the top of the XBox case.
Unplug the red, yellow and black power cords from the original XBox hard drive that connect it to the XBox's power supply.
Unscrew the center screw attaching the hard drive caddy to the XBox case and remove the hard drive caddy by lifting it straight out of the machine.
Remove the DVD drive by unscrewing the two screws holding it into the XBox case and lifting the drive straight out of the machine.
Unplug the original flat gray data cord from the XBox's CPU.
Replace your XBox's original hard drive in the caddy by first removing the two screws holding it in place, then substituting the old hard drive with the new one.
Reconstitute your XBox by reattaching the hard drive caddy with the new hard drive, plugging it into the CPU data cord, reattaching the DVD drive, plugging the hard drive back into the power supply, replacing the XBox case's lid and screwing the six anchor screws back into their original placements.
Boot your XBox to the EvolutionX dashboard and install the new boot CD.
Select "Install New Drive" in the EvolutionX dashboard and confirm the installation.
Transfer the C: and E: drive information from your personal computer to your XBox's new hard drive via your wireless router or through a USB cable.
Change the evox.ini setting on your XBox's EvolutionX dashboard by clicking on the "Misc" link on the dashboard and setting the UseFDrive link to "Yes." This will identify the new drive where information will be stored.
