How to Save Nintendo Games on an XBox

The original Microsoft Xbox is a 3D gaming console that was the company&'s entry into the gaming hardware market. The machine allows players access to a large library of titles developed by Microsoft and third-party developers. However, if you have had your console professionally modified to play "home-brew" (amateur-developed) software, it&'s possible to save classic Nintendo games to the console, which then can be played as if they were running on the original console.

Xbox with "home-brew" modification
Computer with Xbox connection

Instructions

  Download an emulator for the Nintendo console you wish to emulate (either Nintendo Entertainment System or Super NES) from the site in Resources.

  Double-click your downloaded emulator to unzip, then place ROM files in the emulator&'s "ROM" directory. If you do not have ROM files, these can be downloaded from the second site in Resources.

  Open the FTP program you use to transfer software to your Xbox. Turn on your Xbox and transfer all emulation files and directories to the "Games" section of your console. Emulators cannot be transferred using a disc ISO if you want to use the programs&' save function.

  Reset your console and launch the emulation program from the "Software" or "Games" menu of your Xbox. Load the game you wish to play from the emulator&'s start-up menu.

  Open your emulator&'s "Options" screen by pressing the console&'s "White" or "Black" buttons. Select "Save State" to save the game at the current play position. Choose "Load State" to resume play from this position.
