Directions for Connecting an XBox to a TV

The XBox video game console has been replaced by more technologically advanced consoles, but many gamers still like hooking it up to the television to revisit some of their favorite games. To play games on the XBox, you need to properly connect it to your television. Once connected you can experience the hundreds of games available in the XBox library.

      Unplug the XBox power cord from an electrical outlet.

      Plug the AV connector into the "AV" jack on the back of the XBox. The "AV" jack is located in the middle of the console.

      Insert the color coded cables into the "Video Input" and "Audio Input" jacks on your television. The input jacks on most televisions are color coded to match the cables. If the jacks on your television are not color coded, the red cord is plugged into "Video Input," the yellow cord is plugged into the right "Audio Input" jack and the white cord is plugged into the left "Audio Input" jack.

      Plug the XBox power cord into an electrical outlet and press the "Power" button to turn on the console.

      Turn on the television and press the "Input" or "TV/Video" buttons to switch to the video input that corresponds to the input jacks used to connect the XBox.
