How to Get Files From iMac on PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3̵7;s wide array of features makes it more than just a video game console. The PS3 can store and play media files, allowing users to experience music, image and video files on their televisions. The simplest way to transfer files from a computer to a PS3 is to use a DLNA media server. This allows users to stream files directly from their computers to their PS3s with ease. For iMac users, Nullriver has created a program called MediaLink, which gives users the ability to access and copy files from an iMac to a PS3.

Instructions

      Ensure your iMac and PS3 are connected to the same network.

      Visit the Nullriver website and download the appropriate version of MediaLink to your iMac. If you use OS X version 10.5 or later, download the newest version of MediaLink. If you use OS X version 10.4, download the file labeled ̶0;old version.̶1;

      Extract the MediaLink Zip file. Open the MediaLink.prefPane file to install it onto your iMac.

      Open ̶0;System Preferences̶1; and click on the ̶0;MediaLink̶1; icon.

      Select the folders you wish to share with your PS3 and click the ̶0;Start̶1; button to begin sharing.

      Highlight the type of file you wish to transfer in your PS3̵7;s menu. Select the ̶0;Nullriver MediaLink̶1; icon.

      Locate the file you wish to transfer. Press the ̶0;Triangle̶1; button and select ̶0;Copy.̶1; The file will transfer to your PS3.
