Things You'll Need
Instructions
Locate the songs you wish to transfer on your PC. Note that you won't be able to transfer the files directly from a media player, such as iTunes. Instead, you'll have to find the actual song files stored on your hard drive. To do this, right-click on a song title in your media player and choose "Show on Hard Drive," or a similar option.
Connect a USB storage device to your computer. This might be a USB hard drive or USB Flash drive, sometimes also called a "jump-drive" or "key ring drive." Drag and drop any song files you wish to transfer onto your USB storage device. This process might take a little longer on an older PC.
Power on your Playstation 3 console. Connect your USB storage device to one of the four ports located on the front of the PS3. A Flash drive can be connected directly, while a hard drive will require the use of a USB cable. If the hard drive requires special software or drivers for operation, your PS3 might not recognize it. Most modern hard drives do not require special drivers.
Navigate to the XMB home menu on your PS3, and choose the Music category. Choose your connected USB device from the following menu and press the Triangle button on your control pad. Next, choose "Display All" and press the X button. This will show you a list of all the playable content on your connected drive.
Press the X button after highlighting a song to make sure that it plays correctly. Although the PS3 supports a variety of file formats, your best bet is to use MP3 or WAV audio files. Choose any files you wish to transfer, press the Triangle button, and choose "Copy" from the following menu. This will copy the file to your PS3 hard drive for future enjoyment.
