Wii games typically appeal to younger kids and families. The PS3 appeals to older teens, adults and movie enthusiasts.
Graphics and Memory
The PS3 was designed for HDTV and media storage. The Nintendo Wii does not support HD, nor does it have a hard drive.
Motion Control
The Wii is known for its intuitive motion controllers. The PS3 lacks the Wii's motion control, but does have a rumble feature and limited motion control built into its DualShock 3 wireless controllers.
Media Support
The Wii is designed for gaming and does not support DVDs or Blu-ray discs. The PS3 is designed for multimedia and supports DVDs, Blu-ray discs and can stream media from network computers.
Downloadable Content
The Wii and the PS3 both have online stores. The PS3 allows the download of classic games, demos and movies to the hard drive. The Wii allows the download of classic games and exclusive WiiWare titles to an SD memory card.
Price Value
The Wii has the lower price point due to the technology. The more advanced PS3 is priced significantly higher.
