Turn your Xbox upside down, and pry off the face plate with your fingers. This will allow you to take the end covers off without a lot of resistance. To do this, look for the ventilation holes on each side of the top cover. Use a precision screwdriver to lift the tabs while pulling up on the cover with your other hand. Repeat these steps for the bottom cover.
Turn your gaming console on its side. In order to reach the Xbox lens, you will have to open the main cover. Open your casing kit and find the long silver tool with the seven holes. Line it up to the seven tiny holes found on the back of your Xbox. Push this in until you here all the tabs click on the inside. Now pull apart the casing.
Look for six screws on the edges of the steel casing. Remove each one with the torx 10 screwdriver. Also make sure you disconnect the eject button. It will come right out if you use a small screwdriver to pry it out.
Flip the Xbox over and look behind the disk drive. Behind it you will find the power supply and SATA cable. Both of them will have to be disconnected so you can take out the disk drive. You will be able to repair an Xbox lens once you're inside.
Turn the disk drive upside down and remove the four screws positioned on the corners. Then pull the cover off. You will now have access to repair the Xbox lens. Dab a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol. Lightly brush the lens to clean it off. Once you're finished, reassemble everything.
