Inspecting Your Television and VCR
Check the back of your television and VCR for A/V inputs.
See "How to Set Up a Sega Dreamcast System Using an RF Unit" if your television and VCR do not have A/V inputs.
Installing a Sega Dreamcast on a TV Set
Securely plug the yellow portion of the A/V cable into the yellow video terminal, the white portion of the plug to the white (left) audio terminal and, if applicable, the red portion of the cable to the red (right) audio terminal on the back of your television set. If your TV has only one audio terminal, use the white plug and leave the red plug unplugged.
Firmly plug the other end of the A/V cable into the A/V OUT terminal on the back of the Sega Dreamcast console.
Plug the Sega Dreamcast console and television into a wall outlet.
Set the TV to the proper channel.
Plug the controller connector firmly into an open control port, with the flat side up on the front of the Dreamcast.
Plug the keyboard connector firmly into an open control port on the front of the Dreamcast.
Turn on the Dreamcast.
Installing a Sega Dreamcast on a VCR
Securely plug the yellow portion of the A/V cable into the yellow video terminal, the white portion of the plug to the white (left) audio terminal and, if applicable, the red portion of the cable to the red (right) audio terminal on the back of your VCR. If your VCR has only one audio terminal, use the white plug and leave the red plug unplugged.
Firmly plug the other end of the A/V cable into the A/V OUT terminal on the back of the Sega Dreamcast console.
Plug the Sega Dreamcast console, VCR and television into a wall outlet.
Set the VCR to the proper channel.
Plug the controller connector firmly into an open control port, with the flat side up on the front of the Dreamcast.
Plug the keyboard connector firmly into an open control port on the front of the Dreamcast.
Turn on the Dreamcast.
