Surveying Your Television and VCR
Determine if your television and VCR have A/V inputs.
See "How to Set Up a PlayStation Using an RF Unit" in the Related eHows if the TV and VCR do not have A/V inputs.
Connecting Your PlayStation Model SCPH 1001
Connect the cables to the ports on the back of the PlayStation console marked "audio out" and "video out." Make sure to match the same-colored plugs on the cables and the ports - yellow to yellow, red to red, white to white.
Connect the other ends of the audio/video cables to the ports on the back of the television or VCR marked "audio/video input."
Connect the AC power cord to the PlayStation game console and plug it into a wall socket for power.
Turn on the television, VCR (if included in the connection) and PlayStation console.
Press a button on the remote control to access the audio/video inputs for your television or VCR. The button will be labeled "video," "aux," "auxiliary," "tuner" or "line TV/video." You may need to set your television or VCR to channel 00, 90, 91 or 92. If the remote control does not have the buttons described here, check the product's instruction manual.
Connecting Your PlayStation Model SCPH 5501, 7001 or 7501
Connect the black cables to the ports on the back of the PlayStation marked "multi A/V out." Connect the other ends of the audio/video cables to the ports on the back of the television or VCR marked "audio/video input."
Connect the AC power cord to the PlayStation and plug it directly into a wall socket.
Turn on the television, VCR (if it's included in the connection) and PlayStation.
Press a button on your remote control labeled "video," "aux," "auxiliary," "tuner" or "line TV/video." You may need to set your television or VCR to channel 00, 90, 91 or 92. If your remote control does not have a button like any of those described here, check the product's instruction manual.
